Particularly talking about the life sciences field, Is it true?
I have years of experience working with so many AI tools and let me tell you the reality is entirely different. Allow me to explain it.

It depends on how we want to use it.
For life sciences, it can be used to collect information, conduct and design research for any topic, write notes and lessons, and write reviews or a thesis.
Is it really capable enough to do all these jobs? Well, the answer is something different.
At Genetic Education, we have minimal AI use. As I told you, years we invested to understand and use it. But it’s not even 70% useful for life sciences students.
The knowledge or information it provides is not trustworthy, we need to review it to use it in our work. Trust me it misunderstood concepts.
The statistical information provided by AI is the least factual! It can’t provide exact numbers. For instance, when I search for the chromosomal location of the MEN gene (just an example!) many times it gives the wrong answer.
However, for most common genes, it provides accurate results like BRCA1/2, SRY or TP53, etc.
It can’t give us exact protocols or suggestions for any workflow. The reason is that it doesn’t have access to such peer-reviewed and experienced-based information.
It can generate reviews for us but fails to cite it. The references and in-text citations it generates are in most cases wrong.
Writing can’t look humanized and lacks depth and research, it just gives us a generic background for the topic.
It can’t help us in data analysis as our data and files like sequencing, PCR and others are complex and AI can’t understand the formats.
In conclusion, in my opinion, try not to invest time in learning AI as a life science student, instead learn real and useful skills.
Scientific writing still exists,
You still need a guide for the PhD,
You still need to write a review by yourself,
You still need to validate and standardize your protocols,
If you really want to use it, give it a try to learn basic concepts, allow it to design research for you, ask AI to generate your thesis title ideas and perform statistical or complex mathematical analysis for your projects.
We scientific writers are still relevant!
No scientific journal or any platform allows AI-generated text, no matter how accurate it is! And trust me they have very well-established anti-AI software.
So in conclusion, things should not always be correct, make mistakes, and learn from them, that’s human nature. Even AI-generated 100% accurate text doesn’t have any place in life sciences.
